Departure: Rome (9:00 AM)

Sperlonga: Lunch in one of Italy’s most beautiful "white towns," the perfect backdrop for a photo of the bikes by the sea.

Morning (Lazio’s Curves): We exit Rome heading South, riding along the Via Appia or the Pontina towards Terracina. From there, we’ll enjoy the coastal stretch leading to Gaeta, feeling the wind on our faces and the first scent of salt air.

Afternoon (The Approach): After a refreshing break in Sperlonga, we push on toward Campania. We’ll bypass the Naples traffic by heading inland or taking the bypass road, aiming straight for Castellammare di Stabia.

The Grand Finale: Crossing the Valico di Chiunzi or the panoramic state road, we’ll begin our descent toward the Coast. This is where the road narrows, the curves turn into poetry, and the cliffs open up to reveal stunning views of Positano and Amalfi.

Evening: Check-in at our accommodation followed by our first dinner featuring fresh seafood and the inevitable local limoncello.

After a sea-view breakfast, it’s time to fire up the engines. Today’s watchword is “slow riding”: the road is narrow, the bends are tight, and the scenery takes your breath away at every turn.

Traffic: On the Coast, traffic is heavy and tourist buses take up the entire roadway in the hairpins. Ride carefully and keep your fingers ready on the brake.
Parking: Always use designated motorcycle areas (white lines or guarded parking) to avoid hefty fines.
Tire pressure: With so many curves and the weight of a couple, make sure the suspension and tire pressures are properly set.

Morning (Farewell to the Divine Coast): We climb back up from Amalfi toward the Chiunzi Pass. This road is a motorcyclist’s paradise: wide curves and smooth asphalt winding through the Lattari Mountains. Once on the inland side, we head north toward Cassino.

Lunch (History and Panoramas): Stop in Cassino. I recommend riding up to the Abbey of Montecassino: the road to the top is fun to ride and the place is rich in atmosphere. Lunch in the area with traditional Ciociaria cuisine (more rustic and hearty).

Afternoon (The Lazio Hinterland): From Cassino, instead of taking the motorway, we follow the Via Casilina or cut back toward the coast to rejoin the Via Flacca near Gaeta. The tunnels carved into the rock and the cliffside curves overlooking the sea near Sperlonga are the best way to conclude the coastal stretch.

The Return (Toward the Capital): After passing Terracina, we take the SS148 Pontina or the inland Appian Way through the Castelli Romani (Genzano/Ariccia) for one last quick stop before the triumphant entrance into Rome.
